Climbing Instruction

In New Zealand there are many firms and individuals offering climbing training and instruction, however not all of them are experienced, competent and qualified.

Important: If you would like to learn to climb, we recommend you receive instruction from an instructor with an appropriate NZOIA qualification..

New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Organisation (NZOIA)

The New Zealand Outdoor Instructorís Association was established in 1986,to provide a nationally recognised assessment scheme for outdoor instructors. The scheme is performance based, reflecting the minimum requirements for a person to lead or instruct others in a given environment and situation. Presently NZOIA administers a nationally recognised award scheme for bush, alpine, abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, caving, and sailing (through NZYF).
