We  Are  Having  A  Great  Year

Regional Judging & Routesetting Courses

Congratulations to those of you who have participated in this seasons schedule of training.

We are almost at the point of having enough Judges and Route setters for the regions to operate independently.

The 2000 competition season is going off with a rush, and our thanks to everyone who has contributed their time and energy in support of the sports continuing growth. The Competitions have been increased this year from 3 to 7 so climbers and friends / families don't have to travel so far to compete or support competitors.
We have received some great feedback from climbers so keep it coming, as these competitions are your opportunity to strut your stuff. The NZSF values your ideas and we want to hear from YOU.
DID YOU KNOW: the NZSF do not  organise competitions. That job is the responsibility of the Event Directors (typically Climbing Gym staff), many of whom are new to the sport but doing a fantastic job. The NZSF works with Event Directors, trains officials, promotes and generally administers the sport of climbing.
We have put money and time into training and development of officials like: route setters and judges, so that there is more officials regionally.

To complement this years courses we have invited an International Route setter and   Judge to participate at the National competition, so expect great things.
Good progress in the area of junior development also, with lots of new climbers competing this year. To further improve the quality of coaching we are offering NZQA approved Coaches Courses, with the first course being held in September. If you are interested in arranging a course in your region contact us so we can help you to develop the young climbers in your area.
Thanks to the NZSF Executive members, many of whom have been travelling to the events around the country and a special thanks to Luke who has contributed hundreds of hours Route setting at the competitions.
For those of you who feel like us and want more for the sport, how about contributing some of your time and energy.
